Los Montesinos is one of the Vega Baja villages of the Southern Costa Blanca, located in the Alicante province. The history of Los Montesinos dates back to Roman times, remains of a Roman settlement have been found in the area, and it links conveniently to the important ancient Roman road which runs through the village. The Via Augusta would have been the most important road in Spain during the Roman occupation.
